Seiko Solar watches charge by exposing the dial to light. Direct sunlight is the most efficient power source. If the watch has stopped, place it under a bright light source for the duration specified in your model's manual to recharge it fully.

If you have a quartz watch, the battery typically lasts 2-3 years. When the battery is low, the second hand may move in two-second intervals (EOL indicator). Solar and Kinetic models rely on light or motion and use a capacitor/rechargeable cell, which generally does not require frequent replacement.

Pull the crown out to the second click to set the time. To set the day/date, pull the crown to the first click and rotate it (avoid changing the date between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM to prevent damaging the mechanism). Refer to the specific manual for your caliber for exact steps.
