Wash the bottle (not the generator base) with soap and warm water. Soak the generator in a mixture of warm water and white vinegar or Ocemida cleaning solution for an hour, charge it fully, and then run a 5-10 minute cycle with warm water.
Red indicates the battery needs charging. Green means the battery is fully charged. A flashing red light means the battery is empty or the membrane might be dry.
It is recommended to rinse the bottle and generator cap daily with warm water and disinfect it weekly using white vinegar or Ocemida's cleaning solution to prevent mold build-up.
Your membrane is likely dry. Fill the bottle with warm water below 60°C (140°F), let it soak for at least an hour, and run a few cycles to rehydrate the membrane.
To prolong the life of the membrane, use purified, reverse osmosis (RO), or distilled water. Do not use alkaline water directly in the device as it can clog the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM).
