4.1 Installing the Guide Bar and Chain

3. Place the chain around the sprocket and then guide it into the groove of the guide bar. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain are facing in the correct direction (refer to the arrow on the chainsaw housing).
4. Position the guide bar onto the mounting studs, ensuring the chain tensioning pin engages with the hole in the guide bar.
5. Replace the chain cover and lightly tighten the retaining knob. Do not fully tighten yet.

1. With the chain cover lightly tightened, use the tensioning knob (usually a large dial on the side) to adjust the chain tension.
2. The chain is correctly tensioned when it can be pulled freely along the guide bar by hand, but the drive links do not come out of the guide bar groove. There should be a small gap (approx. 2-3 mm) between the chain and the underside of the guide bar when lifted in the middle.
3. Once the tension is correct, fully tighten the chain cover retaining knob.
