4. Persediaan

4.2 Preparing the Tubing

2. Deburr: Carefully deburr the inside and outside edges of the tubing to prevent cracks during flaring and ensure a smooth flow path.

5. Arahan Operasi

5.1 General Flaring Procedure

1. Select Dies and Adapters: Choose the appropriate die set and adapter for the tubing size and flare type required. The magnetic adapter holder will secure the adapter.
2. Insert Tubing: Place the prepared tubing into the selected die set, ensuring it extends the correct distance beyond the die face according to the specific flare type instructions (refer to Section 5.2).
3. Secure Die Set: Insert the die set into the flaring tool's yoke. Tighten the T-handle firmly to clamp the tubing securely. Ensure the tubing is straight and centered.
4. Position Flaring Cone: Attach the correct flaring cone (e.g., 45° cone for double flares) to the hydraulic ram.
5. Initiate Flaring: Align the hydraulic ram with the die set. Slowly pump the hydraulic handle to advance the flaring cone into the tubing. Continue pumping until the flare is fully formed. The hydraulic system will provide a clear indication when the flare is complete (e.g., increased resistance or a stop).

7. Remove Tubing: Loosen the T-handle and carefully remove the flared tubing. Inspect the flare for uniformity and absence of cracks.

• 45° Double Flare: Common for brake and transmission lines. This process involves two stages: an initial inward flare, followed by a second stage that folds the first flare back on itself, creating a double-wall for strength and sealing.

• GM Fuel Line Flare: Specific flare type for General Motors fuel lines. Requires dedicated GM fuel line die sets and adapters.

5.3 Pertimbangan Penting

• Do not over-tighten the T-handle, but ensure the tubing is held firmly to prevent slippage.
• This tool is designed for brake, fuel, and transmission lines. It is not compatible with coolant hoses or rubber hose connections.
