Setup: Preparing Your Pattern and Fabric
- Pre-wash and Press Fabric: Always pre-wash your chosen fabric according to its care instructions to prevent shrinkage after the garment is made. Press the fabric smoothly before cutting.
- Review Kepingan Corak: Carefully identify all 23 pattern pieces required for your chosen view (A, B, or C). Ensure all pieces are present and in good condition.
- Cut Pattern Pieces: Cut out the paper pattern pieces along the designated lines for your size. If using a multi-size pattern, ensure you cut along the correct size line consistently.
- Lay Out Fabric: Fold your fabric as indicated in the pattern layout diagrams. Pay close attention to grainlines, nap direction (if applicable), and pattern matching for plaids or stripes.
- Pin and Cut Fabric: Pin the pattern pieces securely to the fabric. Using sharp fabric shears, carefully cut out all fabric pieces. Transfer all pattern markings (notches, dots, darts, etc.) to your fabric using tailor's chalk, a tracing wheel, or pins.
- Prepare Interfacing: Cut interfacing pieces as indicated by the pattern. If using fusible interfacing, follow the manufacturer's instructions for application to the wrong side of the fabric pieces.
Operating: Sewing Instructions
Follow the general sequence of garment construction. Refer to the detailed diagrams and instructions provided directly on the pattern sheet for specific steps.
- Darts and Seams: Stitch all darts and seam lines as indicated on the pattern pieces. Press seams open or to one side as directed.
- poket: Construct and attach the slash pockets according to the pattern instructions.
- Shoulder and Side Seams: Join the front and back garment pieces at the shoulder and side seams.
- Collar Construction: Assemble the pointed collar pieces, applying interfacing as needed. Attach the collar to the neckline.
- Sleeve Assembly: Construct the puffed two-piece sleeves. Gather or ease the sleeve cap as required. Attach the cuffs to the sleeve edges.
- Set-in Sleeves: Carefully set the sleeves into the armholes, matching notches and easing the sleeve cap for a smooth fit.
- Lapisan: Construct the lining separately, following similar steps to the main garment. Attach the lining to the main garment, typically at the facing, neckline, and armholes.
- Hemming: Finish the bottom edge of the coat/jacket and the lining with a suitable hem.
- Buttonholes and Buttons: Create buttonholes on the front opening as marked. Sew on the required number of 1" buttons for your chosen view.
- Penamat: Apply any novelty braid or decorative elements as desired. Give the finished garment a final press.
